Description: Make tooling to forge jingle bells for the holidays. Create your own designs, forge the bells, attach stems and ringers. Each student will have the opportunity to make five jingle bells. Class time 9am-5pm each day
Prerequisites: You must have taken Blacksmithing 101 or have equivalent experience equal to at least 16 hours of forging time.
BS101 Beginner Blacksmithing is a 2-day weekend course designed to teach the basics of blacksmithing. From forge and fire control to hammer control you will learn to forge a fish tail scroll, pig tail scroll, tab hook, drive hook, forge poker, watering can handle, and other student selected projects as time permits. You will forge a wrapped eye tomahawk using mild steel to form the eye and body and then forge weld a high carbon bit, cutting edge into the blank. Hickory handles will be provided. There may be time to forge more than one tomahawk or try a farrier’s rasp or wrought iron. PREREQUISITE: BS 101 or equivalent. Successful forge welding experience is highly recommended. Class time 9am-5pm each day.

You will learn traditional joinery techniques such as riveting, collars. Wraps. Mortise and tenons and others. After practicing the techniques, you will use them to connect pieces to form a shelf bracket, trivet or small grille. Class time 9AM-5PM each day. PREREQUISITE: BS 101 or equivalent.
