Gichner Hammer In

  • 8341 Black Dog Alley Easton, MD, 21601 United States (map)

The demonstrator this year is Pat Nowak.   His demo will include forging mokume, planning out a job with respect to determining the necessary volume of metal, as well as heat treatment and alloying elements of different metals.

He began making knives in junior high school. This was his inspiration to pursue metallurgical engineering as a profession. While in college he picked up blacksmithing and has been forging since 1997. He has been a full-time metallurgical engineer for 22 years, first at Timken and the last 20 with Scot Forge. His forging specialty is mokume gane - laminated nonferrous metals. Professionally he specializes in developing forging and heat treat processes for carbon, low alloy and stainless steels.

The event will be held at Eric Harvey’s shop, just like last year: 8341 Black Dog Alley, Easton, MD 21601.
Cost per person will be $60. After 12-28-23 the cost is $80. Sunday only price is $20.
